PfAD Claims Formula Clarification?

What's the formula for calculating the PfAD(claims)?

In practice exam B, question #12, the solution uses (PV of gross unpaid claims) x (MfAD clm %).

However, in most other questions if I recall correctly, the formula (PV of net unpaid claims) x (MfAD clm %) was used0

EDIT: Never mind, I was able to answer my own question by reviewing the solution again.
