Ontario’s 5-part action plan? (Memorize: FIRST!)
1. FEES – make litigation fees more transparent
2. INJURY – rebuild compensation system so that lawyers don’t drain as much resources for catastrophic injury litigation.
3. REGULATION – reduce regulation to allow insurers more freedom to compete on price.
4. STRUCTURAL FLAWS – appoint regulator empowered to enact policies and processes to address structural flaws.
5. TIMELY MEDICAL CARE – focus on this and not cash payouts.
