I’ve noticed there are 2 different flood wiki and Battle Card sets. They seem to be very similar to me. I was wondering if there’s any difference between them?
From what I can see both wikis refer to the same source article which was published in 2022, consistent with the current 6c syllabus. Is there really a difference in the material covered by the two?
The reason I am asking is because I actually find the old battle cards to be easier to study and more intuitive (the new cards appear to be very brief). It seems like you would recommend against that?
Ok, I see what you mean. The Govt.FloodSolutions reading is 67 pages while the GOC.Flood reading is 117 pages so I assumed they were completely different. It appears this may not be the case however. We will look into it.
It also appears that the Battle Cards for GOC.Flood have formatting issues which makes them harder to read. We will look into all of this.
Sorry for the delay in investigating this @cornedov,
We have fixed the formatting issues for GOC.Flood.
We have also investigated whether the new reading GOC.Flood is materially different from the older flood reading Govt.FloodSolutions and we found that while there are many similarities, they are different and you should study the newer flood reading GOC.Flood. Here is a brief explanation:
The older reading Govt.FloodSolutions provides a broader overview of flood risk management in Canada, focusing on policy shifts, challenges in insurance coverage, and the importance of relocation, especially for Indigenous communities.
GOC.Flood goes into more technical details about flood insurance models, their financial implications, and specific actuarial analysis that is not fully covered in f1. It also expands on the relocation strategy but incorporates it within a more structured discussion on insurance solutions.
